Learn to Swim Level 5 - Stroke Refinement (Age 8+)

Swimmers refine their performance of all six strokes (i.e., front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke) and increase the distances that they swim.  They also learn to perform flip turns on the front and back.

Prerequisite:  Swimmer has passed Level 4 or can swim the front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke the entire length of pool, as well as the start of the breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly.

American Red Cross

The purpose of the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program is two-fold: to teach people how to be safe in, on and around water; and to teach people of all ages and varying abilities how to swim. Using a logical progression, the program covers the knowledge and skills needed for aquatic skill development, which, in turn, leads to safer and better swimmers.
