Explore the contemporary art practices starting in the 1950’s and continuing today by studying the iconic works of artists such as Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Grayson Perry and many others. Art styles for consideration will include Pop Art, Minimal Art, Environmental Art, Conceptual Art, Performance Art, Appropriation Art, and Video Art.
Selen Ozakhun is a Minneapolis based community education instructor and independent curator of public programs. Her work explores how to empower communities, support interactions, and foster creative thinking through non-formal education with an emphasis on art and craft. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University’s Department of Art History, Istanbul, Turkey, where she also received her M.A., and her dissertation focuses on contemporary cross-over art and craft practices, which use traditional craft media and techniques in unconventional ways.
