Join us to explore the fundamentals of weaving, including warp and weft, patterns, textures and colors, and simple (or unexpected!) weaving looms. You'll create your own unique woven pieces, such as a bookmark, coaster, or mini tapestry. We'll also collaborate on a larger-scale community weaving project, and learn a little bit about the rich history and cultural significance of weaving around the world.
This class is taught by the Weaver's Guild as a part of our Summer Artist is Residence Program
Summer Artist in Residence Program
Immerse yourself in creativity this summer! Our Artist in Residence Program is a vibrant initiative designed to connect community members with local makers, artists, and performers, fostering meaningful interactions that celebrate the arts and engage with the creative process up close.
This program also offers kids a unique opportunity to delve deeply into the arts, exploring their creativity through hands-on experiences guided by professional artists. From woodworking to music and theater, kids will discover new passions and hone their talents in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Join us for a summer of connection, creativity, and discovery as we build bridges between artists and the community while nurturing the next generation of creative thinkers!
Since its founding in 1940, the Weavers Guild of Minnesota has established itself as a nationally-recognized resource for the arts of weaving, spinning, and dyeing. WGM offers classes and events year round, serving over 600 new and experienced fiber artists each year.
