    South View Middle School Wrestling: Gr. 6-8

    Community Ed does not prorate for missed class sessions. Join one of the fastest growing programs! Middle School Wrestling is open to all Boys and Girls in grades 6-8. Participants will focus on conditioning, strength training, team building, and learning wrestling technique. Practices will take place after school (on school days only) and weekly competitions will be scheduled. Edina Community Education offers Wrestling for boys and girls in 6th- 8th grade. Our Season runs October 20 - December 19, 2025 Practices will be held Monday-Friday in the Valley View Middle School North Gym from 4:15-5:45pm. South View students can take activity bus to Valley View right after school. Wrestlers will be ready for pick-up by 5:45 each day. They may be picked up at VVMS Door 1 (main door by flag). Wrestling meets are still being determined with other school districts. Athletes and parents will be informed as soon as we know more. Wrestlers will need to purchase their own wrestling shoes. For practices, wrestlers should wear athletic shorts (no pockets) and a t-shirt. Wrestlers are required to bring fresh practice wear each day.     We'll be playing some of the fun games we've learned in PE class, such as Steal the Pin, Capture the Flag, Busy Bee, and Team Mushroom Ball. The kids will meet at Concord and be safely walked to the open gym space at the ECC. After class, they'll be walked back to Concord safely.     4 games in one! Come and enjoy a four-week outdoor course where we play a different version of kickball each week. Rain or shine, dress for the game.     DASH Sports floor hockey camps provide players with a well-rounded hockey experience covering a broad range of skills training and skill-based games. Players will be taught how to properly stickhandle, pass, shoot, and play defense in a fun and positive environment. Athletes should bring a water bottle. Sticks and pucks are provided.     Learn to Dive

    ***Prerequisites: Must be confident in deep water. Age is not as important as willingness to try new things.*** Learn basic springboard diving skills, diving safety, and how to use the diving board with proper technique. You'll increase your flexibility and have lots of fun! Beginning divers with little or no previous instruction are welcome. During this class, divers will learn the fundamentals of diving including: front approach with hurdle, front dive, back press, back dive, inward dive, front somersault. Often divers will take this class more than one time to achieve proficiency in the skills expected in Intermediate Diving. When the diver is ready to move to Intermediate, coaches will move them up even during the middle of a session.

    Intermediate Diving

    ***Prerequisites: Must be proficient in front approach with hurdle, front dive, back dive, inward dive, front 1 somersault. Age is less important than proficiency in the noted skills.*** If you already have some springboard diving experience, you can continue to build on the skills you've learned in earlier classes. Intermediate divers will be encouraged to try reverse dives, somersaults in all directions, twisting dives, etc. If you are currently in competitive diving, you may also enroll in this course. Practice will be adapted to match your skill level.

    Get a taste of the Edina Dance Team by dancing with current members of EDT! Coach will teach the basics of team structure & performance dynamics. Jazz dance & new friends will create memories for years to come. Additional performance opportunity at the Edina Dance Invite on January 10th, 2026! A bus traveling from South View (SV) to Valley View (VV) is available for students participating in morning activities.     Ninja Obstacle Training is extremely popular with kids and is a fun, unique way to develop confidence, strength, endurance, balance, and friendships! Sign up today to see how Ninja is easily one of the fastest growing sports today! Not only is it the fastest growing sport, but it is the fastest growing cross- training sport as well.  Athletes benefit from training in agility, power, perseverance, and resilience; attributes that all athletes strive to improve. Our Conquer Rec Team is designed for youth, ages 6-13 of all experience levels. Our Rec Team will practice on real obstacles inspired by the tv show such as warped walls, salmon ladders, tilting ladders and so much more during their weekly practice.  Rec Team members will learn the styles and techniques to develop their Ninja Skills with over 40 different obstacles!  This 8 weeklong Rec Team consists of 6 practices and 2 competitions (week 4 and week 8).     Calling all HORNET gymnasts - Come do gymnastics in the Edina gymnastics gym! Edina Gymnastics is designed to provide a flexible, more affordable option for gymnastics while catering to the needs of each individual gymnast and family. Whether your gymnast is preparing to join high school gymnastics, or an elementary school student looking for a low pressure experience, this is a great option! Gymnasts will be thoughtfully placed in a group during practice, where they can best succeed. Our coaching team is composed of high school/college aged veteran coaches who have been involved with our program for some time, plus adult coaches who are currently coaching the Edina Gymnastics program. Gymnasts will be able to build their skills, compose routines, and feel like they are part of a team!
