  • Beyond ECFE: Parenting Middle School Students

    Come to class and learn new parenting skills as your child grows from Elementary through High School years. Beyond ECFE Classes are taught by Licensed Parent Educators, meeting once per month. Group discussion allows parents to share their challenges, experience and wisdom. Topics are determined based on the interests of the class. Classes offered are: Parenting Elementary Students, Parenting Middle School Students, and Parenting High School Students. Parenting Middle School Students (First Tuesday of the month): Topics may include friendships and social dynamics, personality and independence, behavior and discipline, back talk and rude behavior, building resilience, developing responsibility, self-confidence, body image, emotion coaching, balancing homework and activities, puberty, adolescent brain development, and technology and social media. Topics are flexible and will reflect the interests of the group. For the months of November and April, class will be held on the 2nd Tuesday November 12th and April 8th).

    Hornet Central offers an early arrival option for middle school families. The program is open at both Valley View and South View Middle Schools from 8:00am - 9:00am. Program Details Hornet Central offers an inclusive, supervised, and interactive environment for students to begin their day. Students have choices for how to spend their time during Hornet Central: Students can socialize, work on homework, play games, and prepare for their school day. Staff will be available to help with homework. Students who would like a more active start to their day can play games in the gym or outside (weather dependent).   • Career Exploration Camp: Gr. 6-8

    Dive into the diverse world of healthcare and other industries through this immersive course designed to expand your career horizons. Students will explore various career paths, learning about key roles, skills, and opportunities. In addition to valuable insights from guest speakers and professionals, students will have the unique opportunity to visit an actual work site, gaining a firsthand look at different job environments. The course culminates in a mini career fair, where students can engage directly with industry representatives, ask questions, and discover potential career opportunities. This is the perfect chance to explore your passions and start planning your future!

    PLEASE NOTE: A discrepancy in the print catalog incorrectly claimed this camp takes place the week of June 23rd. Helping Hands Volunteer Camp will take place June 16th-18th. Join us for a wonderful summer experience where you'll explore more about what it means to volunteer and important social issues while making a difference in your community. Through hands-on volunteer projects and engaging discussions, you'll learn the value of giving back, cultivating a sense of belonging, and helping to build a stronger and more compassionate community. At Helping Hands Volunteer Camp, students can earn community service hours towards the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. PLEASE NOTE THIS CAMP RUNS MON-WED. DISTRICT BUILDINGS ARE CLOSED JUNE 19TH IN RECOGNITION OF JUNETEENTH.

    ***Sandwich Society is available for students participating in camps on the South View Middle School Campus only*** Are you registered for both morning and afternoon activities and want to stay over the lunch break? Why not join the lunch bunch gang? Bring a bag lunch and a beverage. Students are picked up from their morning camp and dropped off at their afternoon camp. The fun is supervised during lunch by the Community Ed Enrichment Rec Leaders. Please note: For classes week of 6/16, camps run only Monday-Wednesday as all district buildings are closed 6/19 in recognition of Juneteenth. For classes week of 7/7, registration closes on 7/2 due to district closures 7/4 and 7/5 in recognition of Independence Day. We apologize for any inconvenience these variances may cause.
