Lifeguards are always in high demand! Do you like the idea of building your resume with solid work experience, acquiring new life skills all while earning a good wage? We can provide the training and skills you will need to be successful!This is a blended learning class (online and in person) in which you will develop skills and knowledge needed to recognize, prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course will emphasize victim recognition, surveillance, rescue skills and First Aid and CPR. Upon successful completion, participants will receive an American Red Cross Certificate for Lifeguarding/ First Aid/AED/ CPR For the Professional Rescuer which is valid for 2 years. Participants will need a computer with internet A link will be emailed that allows participants access to REQUIRED online learning to be completed prior to the first day of class. Online learning takes approximately 8 hours...so plan ahead!!! Tuition includes book, pocket mask, whistle, Red Cross certification. Attendance at all sessions is MANDATORY. In order to be certified, participants must satisfactorily complete all requirements and attend all sessions.PREREQUISITES:
Students must be 15 years old on or before the last day of class,
Be able to swim 300 yards continuously using breaststroke and/or freestyle
Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.
Surface dive to 7-9 feet, retrieve a 10 pound brick, then swim 20 yards on your back and return to the starting point. You will need to exit the water without using steps or a ladder.This is a timed skill and must be accomplished within 1:40 seconds.
