    Teaching sustainability – how are WE connected to the environment?Enables students to develop knowledge, skills, values and motivation for action, allowing them to maintain their own well-being and that of their community and planet – in an increasingly interconnected world. My goal for this after school club is to engage the kids in healthy discussion and fun activities with the main theme of how the actions of ONE person really can make a difference in taking care of our beautiful planet.

  • Online: Driver's Education: Classroom Instruction & Behind the Wheel: Gr. 9-12 (April)

    This course covers 30 hours of classroom training, and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel lessons. Miss a class? No problem. Each lesson is independent and can be taken in any order. If a lesson is missed, a student can make it up when it is convenient for them and finish at their own pace. The behind-the-wheel training will be scheduled with Safeway after the student has completed the classroom training and passed the permit test. It consists of six hours of one-on-one private instruction with a responsible, professional driving instructor. Lessons are two-hour sessions and include pick-up and drop-off from home, work or school. Training is done on actual city streets and highways. All of Safeway’s instructors are licensed by the MN Depart of Public Safety, having met the State’s background checks and testing requirements.   • Non-School Day: Spring Chess Tournament: Gr. K-12

    Edina elementary and secondary chess players are invited to participate in the "Edina District Season End Chess Tournament". Whether you participated in a chess club or not in the Fall, Winter or Spring, you are invited to compete in this short, fun tournament. Time controls will be used when necessary to keep the tournament within time constraints. The format and recognitions will be based on the number of registered participants in each grade level and school. Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins will be accepted. Tournament etiquette and procedures will be explained at the event for players new to tournament play. Players are not eliminated. Everyone plays in each round unless there is a bye because of an odd number of participants. Typically there are 4-5 rounds.
  • Etiquette, Manners, Social Skills II: Gr. K-6

    Set your child up for social skills success with this class that builds children's self-confidence as they learn important skills that help them to succeed. Children learn to make an outstanding first impression, speak with confidence, use great manners, dine with distinction, and much more! Each class is packed with information, interaction, and a lot of FUN! Children will be encouraged to practice the skills that were learned following each class. Topics include: Making a great first impression Introducing yourself/others Engaging in polite conversation Setting a basic table and using good table manners Winning words Showing gratitude

    Private ACT Tutoring provides 1-on-1 review and instruction tailored to an individual student's needs. Instructors expert in their respective fields handle the different subject areas of the ACT. Subjects for the ACT are: English, Math, Reading, Science or Writing. Tutoring sessions generally start 4-6 weeks prior to the exam date. You have four options for registration: - 1 Subject (4 one-hour tutoring sessions in 1 subject) - 2 Subjects (8 sessions) - 3 Subjects (12 sessions) - 4 Subjects (16 sessions) Deciding on the number of ACT Private Tutoring sessions is based upon many factors. We recommend to most of our families to sign up for 4 subjects/16 sessions (4 sessions in each subject) to maximize potential to achieve a student's goal. If your student has taken the Comprehensive Prep Course with us, or is very strong in a specific subject (high 30’s), then all subject areas may not need to be addressed. After your registration is completed with Edina Community Ed, you will receive a confirmation email. Inside you'll be asked to fill out a form with more information. After this is completed, you will be contacted via email to set up your child's tutoring sessions. In Person Sessions are also available.
  • Online: Comprehensive ACT Prep Course for the June 8, 2024 Exam

    ACT scores play a vital role in college admissions and scholarship opportunities. The Comprehensive ACT Prep Course reviews all subjects of the ACT: English, Math, Reading & Science. We utilize previously administered ACT tests, and focus on content and testing strategies. This class is held online and a Zoom meeting link will be sent to you in your confirmation email. Classes will be recorded for any missed sessions. Course Breakdown: 2:00 - 4:00pm | Math and Science 4:00 - 4:30pm | Break 4:30 - 6:30pm | English and Reading

  • College Application & Essay Writing Camp: Gr. 10-12

    ***Bring your own device to this course. As college deadlines approach, one of the most common things students struggle with is the college essay. Navigating how to stand out from the pack while remaining true and thoughtful to your own story can be a challenge. Students taking this course will learn how to unpack what the essay writing prompts are asking of them and brainstorm a variety of possible topics for their work. Students will write and revise several essays for their own writing portfolio. At the end of the week, each student should have 2-3 strong examples of essays that have been both peer and teacher reviewed.

    Money Explorers: Gr. 5-9

    In this camp, students will partake in a series of games and activities where they can earn simulated money. Students will have different roles within the camp and be presented with different opportunities to spend, share, and save their money. This camp will culminate in students being able to use their earned money to purchase items in a simulated store on the final day of camp.

  • Bicycle Repair and Maintenance: Gr. 7-12

    1wk Camps will teach you basic bike set up, trailside repair, shifting adjustments, brake adjustments, learn how to re-cable a bike for shifting and brakes, tube replacement, tips & tricks, and preparing a bike for selling, Students are free to bring a different bike to each class. Many of your bike issues can be solved in this class! Parts are an extra fee if it is something more major or we will help you source new parts if needed. Please try to bring a bike. Students are encouraged to bring a different bike as we repair every day of camp!

    ***Lunch Bunch is available for students participating in camps on the Valley View Campus only*** Are you registered for both morning and afternoon activities and want to stay over the lunch break? Why not join the lunch bunch gang? Bring a bag lunch and a beverage. Students are picked up from their morning camp and dropped off at their afternoon camp. The fun is supervised during lunch by the Community Ed Enrichment Rec Leaders.
  • MS Sandwich Society: 6-8

    Are you registered for both morning and afternoon activities and want to stay over the lunch break? Why not join the MS Sandwich Society? Bring a bag lunch and a beverage. Students meet at the end of their morning camp to walk to the MS Sandwich Society location, and then are directed to their afternoon camps at the end. MS Sandwich Society will be supervised by the Community Ed Enrichment Rec Leaders.

    Play is essential to our development. It helps us learn and implement important skills that largely impact our perception and experiences in life. In this unified camp, we will explore a variety of games, tasks, and activities that will help students strengthen their decision making, problem-solving, communication and other skills through play. We will focus on how each of our senses are used and impacted while we play: helping students understand the significance of how what we see, hear, feel, smell, and taste influences the way we interact with and interpret the world around us. Edina Community Ed “Unified” camps blend students with special needs and students who are more typically developing to explore art, theater, science, fitness and more. Our goal is to create a community of individuals, both with and without disabilities, devoted to awareness, advocacy, leadership and empathy through authentic relationship-building experiences **Please note: we are utilizing a waitlist to ensure a proper special needs/without need student ratio. Don't hesitate to register on the waitlist. Enrollments will be based on waitlist registration time stamp**

  • Safe Sitter: Babysitter Training: Gr. 4-8

    Safe Sitter prepares students grades 4-8 to be safe when they are home alone, watching siblings or babysitting. Students learn safety, child care skills, diapering, behavior management, online and personal safety. First aid and rescue skills including injury management, choking rescue and infant/child CPR.
