This course will cover everything a novice fisher (person) needs to know in order pursue a life of fishing on their own. We will cover safety, regulations, etiquette, tackle, poles, reels, knots, rigs, bait, limits, casting, technique, fish types/tendencies, and how to target different species. This class will have 3 sessions of off site fishing at Lake Normandale (Catch and Release) and 1 classroom session at Valley View Middle School. No previous knowledge or equipment is necessary. All equipment we will be using is 13 fishing brand, and will be provided by the instructor. Equipment must be returned after use each day. All participants will be asked to purchase a fishing license before the start of class.
*Please note that all participants have the option to bring a snack and/or water bottle for each class. We also highly recommend your child be sent each day with sunscreen as we will be outside for the entire class time.
*As a precautionary warning, all participants will be handling and tying hooks, and will also be stationed near a body of water for the majority of this class.
