This is your chance to team up fellow orchestra friends or meet new musical companions as you dive into the exciting world of small ensemble playing.Whether you're a violin, viola, cello, or bass player with two years of experience under your bow (or taking private lessons), this camp is your ticket to musical independence! Form your own dream team with orchestra friends or let us match you with fellow music enthusiasts. Want to tackle a Mozart quartet? Or find an arrangement of your favorite pop song? The choice is yours!
Instructors will coach you through the art of chamber music as you learn how to communicate through the music. Every player is a leader and every voice matters. No conductor needed – just your creativity, teamwork, and passion for music!This summer camp session is perfect for those ready to level up their ensemble skills or for friends from orchestra looking to make amazing music together. Join us for a summer of harmony, friendship, and musical discovery!
*Camp will run Monday-Thursday on site at Edina. Friday 7/18 will be a cumulative performance in the early evening from the Pops Summer String Camp as well as the Summer Chamber String Camp at Centennial Lakes open to the public. Details TBA
Additional Camp Options:• Participants are invited to sign up as a pre-planned group of friends
• Participants can also join solo and will be placed in an ensemble of similar ability
• Participants may bring song ides to camp, however content will be reviewed by coaches to determine playability
• Participants are encouraged to join both the Summer Pops Orchestra Camp in the morning followed by the Chamber String camp in the afternoon. A space to eat a lunch from home will be provided during the break between sessions.
Requirements:• Participants must have an instruments they can use (exceptions for bass players pending enrollment)
• Participants must have basic knowledge of how to play their instrument with a bow
• Participants must be willing to learn to play music by ear
Strongly Recommended:
Participants and families should consider their availability for the Friday early evening performance at the Centennial Lakes Maetzold Amphitheater on July 18th. While not required, the performance outcome will be contingent on group participation.
