Photographic visual pleasures are everywhere -- if we just look closely. How do we look, and really see? This course explores techniques for creating artful photographs from the little spaces we usually overlook, sometimes even underfoot. Participants will learn about the composition and elements of an effective image, especially for visual display as art. For the time between the two sessions, participants will be encouraged to use a cellphone or a dedicated camera to photograph a few newly-discovered small scenes, and then to show and share discussion of some of their images in class. In this way all participants can gain an even deeper understanding of "all the possibilities."

The path for Larry Webb's long career in professional media industries began before he was a teenager when he was developing a roll of black-and-white film in his parents' darkened bathroom. Since then he has created thousands of photographs in eleven different countries including Tibet, he has taught photography and media courses to college students for over twenty years, and he has had numerous images published. He continues to create images.
