First-time carvers will learn woodcarving techniques to transform a Basswood cut-out into a Chick-a-dee.
Knives and woods will be discussed before carving begins. Several knife grips will be practiced to safely and effectively shape the wood. Students will learn techniques for applying paint and a wax finish.
Knives and safety gloves will be available for each student to use at no charge; however, participants are encouraged bring their own, should they have them.
Materials (wood blanks, paint, brushes, and wax) will be provided. Additional blanks will be available for cash/Venmo purchase in class.

John Hein has been a woodcarver since 1986. His work includes songbirds, Loons, Santas, Gnomes, and Christmas ornaments that are a blend of Scandanavian, German, and Minnesota influences.
