Open Woodshop:T/TH/Sat

Adult / Lifelong Learning -
Adult Winter/Spring 2026

Join a committed crew of woodcrafters where a myriad of experienced woodworkers, hobbyists, and beginners work side-by-side on personal and community projects.

Our woodshop is well-equipped with all the major power equipment and hand tools you are likely to need to complete your projects as well as a finishing room for painting, varnishing or oiling.

The Monday through Friday morning session Open Shop has a long tradition of volunteer monitors and mandatory breaks. The price-per-session for M-F morning shop reflects a commitment by woodworkers to volunteer as a monitor 3-4 times each quarter. This is not optional: if you register for M-F Open Shop, expect to monitor. And expect to take a 10am coffee and treat break!

Afternoon and evening/weekend Open Shop registrants have paid staff monitors and are not expected to volunteer nor are breaks mandatory. This is reflected in a higher price-per-session so we are able to compensate our staff monitors appropriately.

We have moved to a quarterly calendar to allow participants to easily take a quarter off if they are traveling or unable to commit to the previous longer season length. This also allows us to naturally build in 4 skill building weeks throughout the year.

**PLEASE NOTE: We encourage you to attend the first day of your open Shop session. This is in order to meet one another and confirm that participants are up to date with all our woodshop expectations, protocols, and monitor roles.

Note - All Open Shop participants must:

  • have completed our pre-requisite of Woodworking Fundamentals : Woodshop Orientation or will have completed it before they attend open woodshop.
  • be able to work independently (or with a PCA)

Helpful suggestions:

  • Bring a pencil.
  • Ear and eye protection provided, but we encourage you to bring your own.
  • Bring a hair tie if you have long hair
  • You might find an apron useful.
  • Avoid loose clothing and jewelry

The Community Woodshop exists for learning and community-building. Commercial production for sale or profit is not consistent with our goals and mission and is not allowed.
