  • Bloxel Builders: Video Game Design Camp: Gr. 4-8

    Calling all game developers! Students in this camp enjoy creating their own games with character, enemy and plot development. Using the Bloxels Edu system, they turn their game ideas into a digital video game. They will use a special game board and blocks to design the characters, levels, and other art for their games. They then capture their creations using the Bloxels app, where they edit and customize their game, deciding how each of the elements interact and behave. Students will walk away with a fun playable game on a tablet or computer, and invaluable experience with logic and programming.

    Does your child enjoy dance, theater, music, art and swimming? Try synchronized swimming to combine them all! This class will be an introduction for girls in grades 1-12 to try synchronized swimming. Swimmers will combine a love of music, dance, and swimming to learn the basics of synchronized swimming from experienced coaches and get to perform a short routine. ***Athletes already on the Edina Synchronized Swim team are not eligible to register for this introductory course.*** Swimmers must be comfortable and independent in deep water and should be able to swim at least the length of the pool without assistance.

    Disney STEAM Camp: Ice (inspired by Frozen): Ages 3-5

    Introduce your child to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) with inspiration and imagination. Leap into the imaginary world of the Frozen movies! Through the magic of these enduring stories, children will enjoy learning and exploring the characteristics of ice. Each Disney-themed activity is created to be both fun and full of learning. This camp includes time for your child to eat lunch with friends and ends at 12:30pm. Please send a nut-free lunch and snack.

    Tender Tots

    Enjoy time with your toddler exploring the classroom, singing songs, participating in art activities, reading books and playing to learn. Parents separate for a portion of the class into another classroom with a licensed Parent Educator to discuss their child’s social, emotional and physical development while the children play with their teachers and classmates. Your child must be between 18 and 23 months on September 1, 2023, to join this class. Sibling care is available. One-time $50 registration fee.

There may even be some team workouts and games!     Bonjour camp for the lower grades are taught by Madame Abdo (Kindergarten) and Madame Thomas (1st grade) and is an introduction to the first week of school in French. Incoming kindergarten students will be introduced in French to the 6 colors, numbers 0-10, how to say hello , goodbye, and a few songs in French. Along with that they will learn how to be a student at Normandale French immersion . How to sit in a circle, classroom rules , how to ask to go to the bathroom , open lockers , and stand in line. It is a great introduction and makes your child less anxious and stressful to start school. Incoming first grade students will engage in a variety of community building activities in French including: art projects, oral language games, sing alongs, and light literacy and math games. They will have a chance to reconnect with their friends from kindergarten and make new friends in a fun and engaging space.
