South View Knitting Club with Cheryl GunnessMiddle School After SchoolJoin your peers for some knitting, conversation, and fun! Everyone is welcome, whether you are a beginning or experienced knitter. We'll supply the yarn and needles for beginners, and teach the basics of knitting, purling, and changing colors. For more experienced knitters, feel free to bring your own project, and we'll offer encouragement and trouble-shooting. As a group, we'll also work on a public art or service project involving yarn and needles. South View Middle School Boys Basketball Team: Grades 6-8Middle School After SchoolRegistration and Sports Clearance Form are due by December 30th, 2019. Edina Community Education is pleased to offer Boys Basketball for boys in 6th-8th grade (6th grade is a new addition). We will compete in the Classic Lake Conference Junior High/Middle School League. Our Season runs January 13-March 6, 2019 Practices will be held before school, Monday-Friday at South View Middle School from 7:30-9:15am Games (approximately two games per week) will be held after school between 4:00pm-6:00pm. South View Middle School Wrestling Team: Boys and Girls Grades 6-8Middle School After SchoolRegistration and Sports Clearance Form are due by October 25, 2019. Edina Community Education is pleased to offer Wrestling for boys and girls in 6th- 8th grade. We will compete in the Classic Lake Conference Junior High/Middle School League. Our Season runs October 28-December 20, 2019 Practices will be held Monday-Friday in the Valley View Middle School Middle Gym from 4:15-5:15pm Wrestlers will be ready for pick-up by 5:45 each day. They may be picked up at VVMS Door 1 or Door 2. There is also an activity bus available that leaves at 5:30pm We will have seven wrestling meets throughout the season (typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays) and an end-of-the-season tournament on December 20th. District transportation will be provided for all away matches Wrestlers will need to purchase their own wrestling shoes A school-issued singlet will be provided for competitions. Wrestlers have the (OPTIONAL) opportunity to purchase a competition uniform, which consists of a compression short and shorts or a singlet. Click here for purchase info (store closes 10/22). For practices, wrestlers should wear athletic shorts (no pockets) and a t-shirt. Wrestlers are required to bring fresh practice wear each day. South View Morning History Day Club with Christopher Griggs and Ben FriedMiddle School After SchoolHistory Day is an inter-disciplinary research project for students in grades 6-12. History Day teaches students to conduct in-depth research, use primary and secondary sources, read a variety of texts, analyze and synthesize information, and write and present historical content. Students choose a topic that relates to an annual theme, research that topic, and present their research in one of five presentation categories: Research Paper, Exhibit, Documentary, Performance, or Website. Students may then enter their projects into History Day competitions at school, regional, state, and national levels.
